Leg Up - Hoosier Horse Park

July 6, 2008

This past weekend 5 ERE riders went to Edinburgh Indiana to ride at the Leg Up Horse Trials.  We had a beautifully cool July day and the riders were anxious about what was in store.  After walking the cross country course on Friday night some riders were a bit concerned but were going to have fun!

  • Morgan Rowe - 1st Place in the Junior Novice division
  • Kate Acia - 3rd Place in Senior Starter
  • Natalie Incorvia - 4th Place in Junior Stater
  • Samantha Laurel - Was in 2nd place after dressage and stadium (and the plan was to just do dressage and stadium) and withdrew - but went out on the XC course and practiced for the next horse trials!
  • Melanie Rowe - did not complete but learned a lot about her pony Snappy and herself.

We also have to give a GREAT JOB to three other riders that Emily helped while at HHP

  • Mary Peabody Camp - 1st Place Jr. BN
  • Emily Hagan - 6th Place Jr. BN
  • Sarah Camp 7th Place Jr. Starter

Pony Club Rally Big Success for ERE Riders

June 30, 2008

Pony Club Rally is always a big ordeal.  There is lots of planning, prepping and cleaning that go into having a successful Rally.  This year the ERE Riders really did an outstanding job!  For the D1's we had Samantha Laurel take home a blue ribbon for her efforts with Hugz.  Sarah Snyder rode Mega Fox to a respectable 6th place in her division.  Kelly Taylor placed 2nd individually and led her team to victory in the D2 Division 2!  McKenzie Ragan led her team  to victory in D2 Division 3 by placing 3rd while little sis Liza was not far behind in 5th place.  Natalie Incorvia was the fabulous stable manager for the Ragan girls team and they thank her for her efforts. In the C Division Bailee Hodelka rode Poco, Natalie's super pony, to his first BN completion!  Way to go girls!Laughing

Lakeside January Show - Thank goodness for heated indoors!

January 25, 2008

Well, the horses are back in their pastures/stalls contemplating on their weekend.  I think most of them are thinking postive thoughts.  They were treated well, their stalls were cleaned (and repicked by Kelsey), they were warm, they had water buckets that didn't freeze,  they got to go into the arena before they had to jump and practice - that is certainly a change for some Event horses.  All in all I think the horses had a pretty relaxing weekend.  Yeah, they had to do some work, but they also got to take naps in the afternoon, really pretty great!

There are lots of people I need to thank:

  • Bill Snyder for trailering and getting us hay!
  • Nathan and Dan for trailering - and unfortunately Charley had to stay home after doing really well in his lesson before the showFrown.
  • Annette Senns  and Vicki Satterthwaite- for putting themselves and their sanity on the line by staying in the hotel room with 4 teenagers - kudos to you both!
  • Keli McBeath and Bailee Hodleka for the great gift bags!  Enjoyed by everyone.Kiss
  • Rene and Caroline for coming up, eventhough they didn't have horses to ride, and helping the riders make sure they had...

Lakeside December Show a Great Experience!

December 3, 2007

Greater realtionships were made at the December Lakeside Show.  McKenzie and Magick performed as well as I have ever seen them and the effort paid off in a Championship in the Cross-Rail Equitation Division!  Good work McKenzie!

Nathan Luzcuz and his Quarter Horse stallion, Charley, were incredible!  Charley was the perfect gentleman and behaved better than any horse I have ever seen at his first horse show!  Nathan also looked very dapper with his new shiny tall boots that were causing pain right behind his knee - you guys know what I am talking about!  He dealt with the pain and had some great placings in the Green Horse Cross-Rails division.  Next month he's heading to the big ring so watch out!

Liza and Savvy continued to impress as they rode beautifully around the big ring in the Beginner Rider Division.  This was the biggest division of the day (11 riders) and she placed in each class!  Way to go La!

A BIG Thanks goes to our fabulous support crew - Morgan, Natalie and Dan!  We loved having you up there supporting our riders.

Flying Cross Success!

November 15, 2007

Six Stone Place riders competed in the Flying Cross Mini-Trial on November 14th -  We couldn't have done it with all of our great parents (Yeah) and friends (Morgan and Chris) to help make sure we had everything we needed and were ready to go!

5th Place - Starter B - Liza and Savvy My Boy with a 29.00 in dressage and a double clear round!  Way to go La!

6th Place - Baby Novice -  Bailee H. and Joy - clean and fun XC course.  Their second event together - Awesome!

4th Place Starter A - Caroline and Mario - She was less than 4 points from 1st place - They were quite a pair, and   what a long way Mr. Mario has come!

6th Place Starter B - Annie and Woody - His first outing!  They looked like they have ridden XC this their whole lives!  He just didn't think that one was supposed to do dressage on black footing!

McKenzie put in a really nice dressage test on Magick but it wasn't their day in stadium and they retired - remember there is always another event!

Natalie worked hard to get her pony around stadium and had a big smile to...

Stone Place H/J and Dressage Show

October 15, 2007

Just a quick note to congratulate everyone on a job well done.  Due to the scheduling I couldn't see everyone's rides but I have heard through my undisclosed sources that everyone did great!

Kelsey Gill was Champion of the Poles Division!  Way to go Kels!!!

Esme and Magick had a fine showing in the poles garnering top ribbons!

Samantha and Princess really buckled down after a less than ideal school on Saturday to shine on Sunday!  She rode in both Poles and Cross Rails and looked like a star!

Henrietta and Savvy won a Cross Rails class and were placed high in all of her rounds!

Lindsey and Max performed very well in both the Cross Rails and Verticals Divisions.

Morgan and Riper outclassed all the other Novice Test riders to garner the Blue with a 74%.

McKenzie and Magick - were doing double duty doing riding in both dressage and hunters!  Great job on both!

Liza and Savvy - got a Blue in the 2' jumpers - she rode with  almost too much control!  Wow, wonders never cease!

Natalie and Poco (or should I say Pocohantas and Poco) were cantering fools and were Reserve Champions in the Verticals Division...

Welcome new riders to Stone Place Family

October 12, 2007

Hey guys,

I just wanted to welcome our new riders at Stone Place!

Lindsey  S. and Max  are in the center aisle of the Black barn, next to Marco.  They are all settled in and are progressing nicely.  Max is still a little green but he seems to like his work and we just did our first Cross-Country school where he started to get the hang of how fun it is to jump outside!

Across from Max is Beau (a.k.a. Air Force One) and Natalie S.  They have been here almost two weeks and are doind great.  Beau looks like he would crawl up in your lap and take a nap with you!   Natalie has owned Beau for a little over six months and they are going to enter their first show at Stone Place this weekend!  Good luck and have fun!  Natalie will be leading all of you event riders on hacks this winter (YES THAT MEANS OUTSIDE RENE!) to keep your horses fit!

Another  new rider is also a Lindsey S.   She is currently leasing Zeke (Dan's horse) while she scours the globe for the perfect horse to buy.  I am sure that we will be able...

Cross Country School at Flying Cross - Great Job

October 11, 2007

On a beautiful Saturday morning seven students went Cross Country at Flying Cross -  Liza, Natalie, Annie, McKenzie and Caroline rode the starter course and jumped around saying "That was so fun!"  They learned how to canter up and down the slopes in control while keeping their horses happy!   They jumped logs, benches, up banks  and down into water!  Annie's horse Woody hadn't ever jumped XC and he tried his heart out!  Congrats to all!

The next group consisted of Morgan and Bailee and they should both be so proud of their horses.  Riper jumped effortlessly around the Novice course like a pro, never missing his spot!  Bailee's horse, Joy, had never jumped any of the Flying Cross jumps and he went over everything asked of him without even thinking of stopping!  I know that had to make Bailee glad that all of her labor intensive, boring flatwork has paid off great dividends!  Watch out for these two next spring!
